“Location doesn’t alter his promise”

We’ve all come across the saying “Bloom where you are planted.” While it’s a beautiful sentiment, what do you do when God plants the seed of promise in one place but then unexpectedly relocates you from that spot?

Does the assurance of that promise remain intact? Is the promise still in the process of flourishing? Will it ultimately materialize, or was there a misunderstanding in what you heard? These questions may start circulating in our thoughts when we observe a promise sown, yet encounter a change in our surroundings.

God’s purpose for the shift is a divine purpose which is to assist you in the growth of the promise.  Take Abraham for instance, a man called by God with a great promise upon his life, although his environment changed often as he walked out his promise over time.

God begins to place you in surroundings that will help to sharpen you in your calling, although it may not seem like it for the moment.

But rest assured that the purpose of the change does not determine the outcome of the promise.”

“Now the Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Genesis 12:1-3

God calls us to set ourselves apart, just as He instructed Abram and Sarai. Some promises from the Lord beckon us, demanding that we forsake the very elements that define “us”—our culture, family, history, and even our personal identity.

In verse 9, a concise sentence unfolds: “So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.” This illustrates that Abram was a sojourner, remaining obedient despite the journey.

You’re called by promise

In Galatians 3:13-14, we encounter a promise where God commits to bestowing upon all believers the blessings of Abraham. This passage explains that Jesus took on a curse on our behalf, enabling us to receive “the blessings of Abraham.”

Numerous promises in God’s Word bear your name as an heir of Abraham and a child of God.

Saying, Unto you will I dive the land of Canaan as your measured portion, possession, and inheritance. When they were but a few men in number, in the act, very few, and were temporary residents and strangers in it, when they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people, He allowed no man to do them wrong; in facet, He reproved kings for their sakes, saying Touch not My anointed, and o My prophets no harm.

Psalm 105:11-15

Since the outset, God has declared promises over His people, and now, as one grafted in through the inheritance of the blood of Christ, you stand within these promises outlined in God’s Word.

The intention behind the promise is to carry out God’s divine will on earth, with the aim that people may come to know Him and acknowledge that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world for our redemption. The ultimate goal is to reunite God’s children back to Him, to be One with Him, as Jesus describes in John 17.

Sojourning Purpose of Promise

We are temporary residents on this earth, yet God has bestowed upon us a promise with a distinct purpose.

Even if you find yourself relocated from one setting to another, feeling as though the promise was abandoned in the past or in a location where you believed it was flourishing, bear in mind that God orchestrates our movements to bring about the fulfillment of His promise within you.

There are phases in your journey where, had you not obediently departed from a situation or relationship where you believed the fulfillment of a promise was taking place, you wouldn’t have gained the training, resilience, and insight needed to fulfill the much greater promise that God has placed in your life.

Frequently, we overlook the fact that a promise consists of multiple components. Even if we find ourselves in the initial stages of a promise, it might seem like the complete fulfillment is distant. However, God, in His great grace and kindness, is always at work.

God would never thrust you into a promise for which you are not adequately prepared and equipped to fully embrace. He comprehends the territories, boundaries, and positions He is assigning to you, ensuring that you are capable of withstanding all that accompanies the fulfillment of this promise.

Resting in the Promise

During a phase in our lives when it seems as if God has overlooked the promises made to us, or when there’s a possibility of misunderstanding due to a shift in our life’s circumstances.

Keep in mind that God perceives aspects of our lives that may escape our awareness, and there could be a part of your heart that God is reshaping, preparing you for what lies ahead.

For You, O God, have proved us; You have tried us as silver is tried, refined, and purified. You brought us into the net [the prison fortress, the dungeon]; You laid a heavy burden upon our loins. You caused ment o ride over our heads [when we were prostrate, humble]; we went trhrough fire and through water, but You brought us out into a braod moist place [to abundance and refreshment and the open air].

Psalm 66:10-12 AMP

In moments like these, here are the actions that have guided me with joy and victory

1. worship Jesus for who he is

Reading this on the blog may appear simple, but in reality, pausing your activities to sit before God, worship, and praise Jesus Christ as your King for who He is, not just for the items on your request list, can be challenging. For some, this may be a natural part of daily duties—a blessing indeed. Yet, for others, it could be a challenging aspect of their relationship with Jesus.

I encourage you, dear brothers and sisters, to cultivate a deep familiarity with the presence of Jesus Christ. Find yourself so acquainted with bowing down in a prostrate position, fully engaged in adoration and worship before your King. Let His presence permeate the atmosphere, surpassing the need for an abundance of words.

I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever [with grateful, affectionate praise]. Every day [with its new reasons] will I bless You [Affectionately and gratefully praise You]; yes, I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and highly to be praised; and His greatness is [so vast and deep as to be] unsearchable.

Psalm 145:1-3

2. Return to the word of God

Return to the Word of God, rich with His promises and goodness. Utter those scriptural promises as declarations before the throne of God, saturating His throne room with steadfast affirmations of promises fulfilled.

“Remember [fervently] the word and promise to Your servant, in which You have caused me to hope.”

Psalm 119:49 AMP

[I am presently assembling my collection of declarations that I've maintained for years, and many have expressed interest in obtaining copies. Hence, I am diligently working on making this available to you as a downloadable resource for you to start affirming scripture and promises in your life. Stay tuned, and keep an eye on your email for its release!]

3. Praise God for the Preparation

God is currently preparing you in this season for the promise you are about to walk into. Do not place your time frame upon God’s divine plan for your life my friend. Remember that God is preparing you in advance for that which you will walk into.

Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to uncover the areas that require fortification and preparation during the waiting season. Collaborate with the process!

As you engage in cooperation with God during your season of redefinition, observe how He unlocks the floodgates of His Word for you in ways you haven’t previously grasped.

Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried and chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

Isaiah 48:10

Permit the Holy Spirit to begin a transformative process within you, fortifying you for the territories, positions, and boundaries that God intends for you.

To bear the weight of the promise, you must undergo refinement through testing, mirroring the experiences we witnessed in the life of Abraham, who is hailed as the Father of Faith.

At this point in your spiritual journey with Jesus Christ, where do you find yourself in the waiting process for the promise God has for you?

I’ve experienced numerous seasons of waiting, eagerly anticipating the fulfillment of a promise, and I’m still in those seasons today. However, I’ve discovered and continue to learn that when we redirect our focus to Jesus Christ and seek to collaborate with God during the redefining moments of our lives, we often feel more engaged rather than simply placed in a waiting hallway.

The core message of this entire blog is to authentically shift your focus back to Jesus Christ, worshiping Him throughout the journey, and recognizing that the promise remains true in your life despite any changes in location, because Jesus is always sufficient!
