How to harvest the promises of God in your life

Have any of you had a promise of God spoken over your life and wondered what to do in the meantime of seeing this promise come to pass?

However what if I told you that God’s promise to you is like a seed; whether it be from the Bible (His word) or from Him directly either way “His promise” is a seed and we are the soil.  When God gives us a promise he is literally giving us a seed in his hand and giving us the option to take this seed and plant it.  What I mean by taking the seed is receiving in our hearts what He is telling us and when we decide in our hearts to receive what God is telling us; what we have done is reached out and accepted the seed that he has given to us and planted it into our lives.

There is so much to be said of this in God’s word, Jesus himself spoke allot about seeds, planting and reaping of the Harvest and it’s no wonder why when you look at God’s word as seed in your life!  Now when God plants a seed what do you think is going to happen to that seed that was just planted?

You would think it is going to grow all on its own without any water, sun or protection right? Because after all the almighty God is the one who gave you this seed… Wrong!  When God plants a seed aka promise in your life it is up to YOU my dear friend to ensure that this seed is taken care of and begins to sprout and grow into a harvest that you can reap from in the Kingdom of God.

What I mean here is that it is your responsibility as a child of God to ensure that your seed is watered daily, and how is that you might ask?  With God’s word and his promises in His word regarding your situation! And believe me, if you seek you will find a scripture relating to every situation you will ever face in life!  Begin to water that seed with the word of God daily, and keep that seed hydrated and moist with the word of God!

Even if you claim to be super busy and don’t have time for God’s word or honestly have a problem sitting down and dedicating time to read your word… I have an idea that used to work for me in my early 20’s; I would sit my bible purposely in the bathroom near the toilet so that when I would have to go #2 I would pick up my bible and begin to read!  But it is very important to water your seed with the word of God no matter where you do it or how you have to make yourself do it!

Romans 10:17    So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

And of course what good seed could thrive if you did not give it some sunlight and the best kind of light to be found in this world is the light of God himself, ensure you are spending time with God daily no matter if that is in a quiet place by yourself with your coffee and journal (by the way you are so lucky if you have this option may I add, me on the other hand; I hide out in my tiny bathroom while my son generally tends to beat on the door asking me what I’m doing!!!)  But what I am saying is that no matter what you find yourself doing throughout your day be it dishes, vacuuming or wiping dirty hands all day, just talk to your Father and spend time with him and allow the other things of your day to actually get done “while you spend time with God.” Invite your tasks to your God time, not the other way around and keep your focus on him!

Matthew 6:33    “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
John 8:12    “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life”

And last but not least, you need to protect your seed at every stage of its growth and how you do this is also with the word of God (are you seeing how God is involved in every area of your harvest!)  See Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy every piece of seed God has planted in your life and believe me when I say that he is very good at this and we do not even know when he has plucked up our seeds by the little roots that were just beginning to grow.  But you are a mighty warrior of God, he has created you in your mother’s womb for this and it is up to you to protect your seed daily with Faith as your weapon.

Speak the word of promise to your seed, speak life to your seed and watch your harvest come about in your life!  Do not allow Satan and his little minions to get their hands on your seed, and the only way they can is through your mind, so keep a watchful eye on what you are thinking and allowing into your thoughts, even if it were weeks, months or years ago that a seed was planted just remember that Satan never sleeps or grows tired of waiting to kill, steal and destroy what God has planted and he is always seeking to destroy your Faith, so be watchful!

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat of its fruit.
Luke 10:19    “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”

So, my dear friends, I urge you to not give up on the seed God has planted in your life, because whether or not you can see it spiritually or not there is a war waging on and when God plants something, Satan is right behind (always trailing in the dust!!!) God waiting to pluck it right back up, and sometimes we allow him to do this just by our doubt and fear and impatience.  We begin to believe the lies the enemy has been working so hard at downloading into our brains of doubt and fear that the seed or promise God has planted or spoken over your life will never come to pass and we receive this lie instead of receiving the seed  God first handed to us to plant and tend to.

Remember my Kingdom Sisters, that when God gives us a seed that we are to do everything we possibly can to ensure that seed reaches its harvest and let no attack of the enemy come against us and try to dig out our seeds that God planted!
